History of Lakeside School District

 

1926- Garland County Superintendent introduces "plan of consolidation" for the Sulphur, Shady Grove, and Spurlin districts

1927- the name "Lakeside" submitted by Board of Directors due to the consolidated districts being mainly on lakefront

1928- September 24, first school day

1930- complete high school courses

1931- first graduating class

1932- Red Oak district consolidated with Lakeside

1933- Home Economics debuted

1938- Senior Class made its first educational trip, 2 weeks touring the south

1939- moving picture machine purchased; sound equipment installed in high school rooms

1940- Forche Loup consolidated with Lakeside; Seniors produced first school annual for students 1st-12th grades

1968- moved into new High School building

1975- Jr. High completed

1976- wing connecting Jr. High and High School completed; Kindergarten introduced

1989- first 13 year graduating class

1997- new gym completed

1998- Middle School and Ram Athletic Complex built

1999- EAST introduced

2002- Pinnacle Internet Viewer software (online grades)introduced to district

2004- November, renovation started on old High School
