"A" Rating for Lakeside School District

Lakeside School District is one of just eighteen (18) school districts to earn a grade of "A" from the Arkansas Policy Foundation for scoring high on the Iowa Tests of Basic Skills (ITBS).  Special thanks goes to our teachers, staff, and parents for making Lakeside a leader in academic achievement.

Lakeside Middle School and Junior High were both honored on Friday, November 2, 2007. Gov. Mike Beebe and Arkansas Education Commissioner Dr. Ken James honored 14 outstanding Arkansas Middle and Junior High Schools at a luncheon hosted at the Arkansas Governor's Mansion. All 14 schools were identified as higher performing schools by Just for the Kids in Arkansas (JFTK) and The National Office for Research, Measurement and Evaluation Systems at the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville (NORMES).

Schools were identified based on student achievement on the state ACTAAP exams over a period of three years. Schools whose students consistently achieved higher scores than their peers in demographically similar schools were designated as higher performing.

Gov. Mike Beebe, Jamie Preston and Mr. Cook

"These 14 schools have done an outstanding job of improving academic achievement and should be viewed as leaders, examples and inspirations for all Arkansas public schools," said Gov. Beebe. "Our charge, and our responsibility as a state, is for all students to make academic progress, meet performance expectations and ultimately graduate college and career-ready. These outstanding middle and junior high schools consistently demonstrate that they are helping us meet that ultimate goal."
